The recipe can be followed back in the time when Istanbul was called Constantinople. Ever since Turkey is pronounced a modern country this meatball dish were the citizen and tourists favourite one. The restaurants around Hagia Sofia and the ones on the beach offer this typical for the Turkish cuisine dish.
Today I decided to take you to Istanbul and feel the atmosphere of the city.
For the meatballs you can use beef or mix of meet and lamb mince.
Ingredients:
- 500g beef mince
- 1 onion
- 2 eggs
- 1 slice of bread
- paprika
- cumin
- oregano
- black pepper
- salt
For the mash potato:
- 500g patatoes
- 100ml milk
- 50g butter
- salt
Cut the onion into small pieces; soak the bread slice in a water. Then mix the beef mince with the onion, add the eggs and the soaked bread slice. At the end add all the herbs and spices to the mince. Leave on a side for few minutes and then make small balls. Fry well in a sunflower oil.
For the preparation of the mashed potatoes you don’t need specific instructions. I am sure you all like mashed patatoes and know really well how to prepare it.
Serve the meatballs while still hot onto mashed potatoes and garnish with herbs.
Enjoy!
